Don't worry about it Carol. Was just looking for another option - veil just doesn't appeal. Maybe 'mist'. Depends on whether its purely truffles or a balsamic vinegar with truffles or whatever.

@ Wendy My "Neutral" comment is not intended to be the slightest bit negative! (I know it can sometimes seem that way). If there had been a "partially agree" or "agree in principle were it not for..." button, I would have used that!

"Veil of truffles" ... ... gets some interesting hits on Google, and none of them feel the need to use inverted commas either…

It's a sauce/gravy/jus ... or "coating", but "veil" sounds nicer. I actually posted my suggestion simply because (a) it's a cuisine term that might fit the bill and (b) it also begins with "vel...". :)

Know the feeling.... however seems more fun than the contract I am translating.... I think if you put the word "veil" in quotes, it would be an acceptable translation.

Amazingly, feeling fairly confident that 'veil' was not the right word, I have found an examples of this being used:

And "velo" is also a veil and similar gauzy things,so it probably sounds enticing and mysterious in Spanish.

In fact, someone here (not guilty!) has translated it as "truffled veil":

neutral Carol Gullidge : not sure that "glaze" isn't too specific; it usually implies a sticky, sweet coating. Indeed, the glaze in your 2nd link is a honey glaze with truffle rather than a truffle glaze. Not sure you cd make a glaze with just truffle...(?)
