Freelance German to (British) English translator, proofreader and editor

Specialising in marketing, tourism, market research, technical and beauty & cosmetics. I work with SDL Trados Studio 2011.

Experience in qualitative and quantitative market research and both pre-fieldwork and post-fieldwork after working as a project manager for a market research translation agency. Also offer coding of open-enders, verbatim translation and proofreading.

Fully qualified with a BA in Modern Languages from the University of Warwick and an MA in Translation & Professional Language Skills from the University of Bath.

Completed a translation internship at the European Patent Office, Munich during March and April 2013 translating a mixture of legal, financial, marketing and political texts, including immigration documentation and official memorandums for use within the international organisation. Was working to tight deadlines and exposed to the specific structures and pressures of international organisations.

Have spent significant periods of time studying at language schools in Germany and attending conferences in the fields of politics and the media. I also completed year-long specialised translation courses in economic and technical translation at Humboldt University, Berlin during my year abroad in 2010.

Volunteer for 'Watching America', translating important political and economic news articles from German into English for US readers. Watching America

I have a keen interest in the hospitality industry and nearly 4 years experience working in a medium-sized hotel on the South Devon coast.
