It refers to the size and measurment of one\'s waist when one is being fitted for clothing.

\"Waist measurments\" is the more specific term, and I suppose the correct one, but \"waist\" by itself is easily understood in this context (i.e. \"Now, I\'m going to measure your waist.\").

If you would prefer, you might be able to get away with using \"waist size\". It would most likely be understood. However, it is not a common term and I would recommend using one of the first two answers that I proposed.

disagree Daniel Mencher : That is the literal translation, yes, but that expression is almost never used in English (at least not here in the USA), and in the realm of textiles, "waist measurement", "waist size", and also just "waist" are the correct terms.
