Norwegian term

offentlig tilbakelevering

Norwegian to English Bus/Financial Automotive / Cars & Trucks Returned/repossessed vehc
Hi - I'm looking for an appropriate equivalent for offentlig tilbakelevering,

Tvungen tilbakelevering appears previously in the text - are they synonymous?

Thanks for your help!

Discussion

dmesnier (asker) Nov 7, 2021:
Thanks - a bit later in the text there is also a chart with both "frivillig" and "offentlig"

Tilbakelevering:

Frivillig tilbakelevert
Offentlig tilbakelevert/avholdt forretning
Offentlig tilbakelevert/avholdt forretning på salgssted
Offentlig tilbakelevert/avholdt forretning må avholdes på salgssted

repossesion process

Here, the car seller, sends repossession notice, if buyer hides the car , agent of the sherrif or hired agent, REPO Man, forcibly takes car, repossesses with consent or without consent, may be taken from open driveway, if no agreement made with the car lot,(selller, lien holder, bank) car is sold at PUBLIC Auction, to establish price, to the highest bidder, the Cost of Recovery, charge by the auction company are deducted from the sale price, and if anything is left, that is deducted from the anount owed by the (unforunate)person who had bought the car. (sheriffs sale is PAST History, no longer relevant perhaps. Process may vary as known by term Sheriffs Sale, title to car can be issued by Sheriffs Title under certain circumstances.

quote from webiste....Once your vehicle has been repossessed,
your creditor may decide to either keep it as
compensation for your debt or resell it in a public
or private sale. In some states, your creditor must
let you know what will happen to the car. For
example, if the car will be sold at public auction,
state law may require that the creditor tell you the
time and place of the sale so that you can attend
and participate in the bidding. If the vehicle will
be sold privately, you may have a right to know
the date of the sale.

??public repossession? taken back land Publicly sold, that is unwilling ,,,,willing agreement with seller is not as likely to happen, I am curious to know the answer, too
Example sentence:

The repossession of vehicles is controversial and corrupt in many states, even Idaho and very likely in New York, excessive fees and collusion.

formal repossession in public

Frivillig tilbakelevert > repossessed voluntarily
Offentlig tilbakelevert/avholdt forretning > formally repossessed 'in public'/so with record of 'ceremony' or of action taken

tvungen > forced or forcible repossession
Example sentence:

USA: There is no "voluntary restitution." Sometimes there is a "voluntary repossession" where you voluntarily give the car back rather than making them come out and take it from you.

Replevin is the legal action you can use to get your personal property back when someone has wrongfully taken it and refuses to give it back
