Actually 只欠东风 是这个成语中的赘语, 根本没什么含义. 全句的意思就是都准备好了, 妥当了, 就等着办了.
20年前我同事要结婚, 同事问同事你的房子装修好了吗? 同事答好了. 同事又问同事, 家具做好了吗? 同事答做好了. 同事问同事....., 同事答都好了. 同事最后说: 你是万事具备只欠东风. 意思是都准备好了就等着结了.
所以, 这个成语COMPLETELY EQUAL TO \" being read for\" :being well-prepared for\" 没必要译出欠什么.
If east wind is translated 中国人回搔头外国人会耸肩, 都是无里雾中的表现.
