Spanish term

hilo de sujeción

Spanish to English Art/Literary Textiles / Clothing / Fashion Academic article on celebrity clothing
Empezando con los hilos de sujeción, tanto el guipur como los cristales coloreados reflejaban una pérdida de resistencia con respecto a su diseño original, evidenciando cuentas sueltas, así como lagunas a lo largo de la superficie del vestido.

the fastening threads

Starting with the fastening threads, both the guipure and the coloured crystals reflected a loss of strength from their original design, showing loose beads, as well as gaps along the surface of the dress.
Peer comment(s):

agree Elizabeth Joy Pitt de Morales : As two different things (beads and guipure (a kind of bobbin lace)) were attached, it's possible they were different threads. Also, the beads may have been attached by individual threads. The original also uses the word in plural.

tie-thread; (angling) tying thread

It's thread in the singular, besides which tying thread is used - outside of celebrity and other fashion - for fly fishing.

I also recall tie-wire used as a real-life term in military and construction contexts.
Example sentence:

Eleganza 8wt Cotton Black Tie Thread. Material: 2-ply 100% Long Staple Cotton Weight:

Peer comment(s):

neutral Andrew Bramhall : You might be confusing " tie wires" with tie irons, used to strengthen double-skin walls in construction. Don't know about military use, but angling terminology of no relevance here. Also, LOS hiloS de sujeción is PLURAL, so your comment untrue.
