German term

Einstellrichtwert

German to English Science Medical: Pharmaceuticals
...in the context of a blending process (pharmaceutical)

Does anyone KNOW the exact term in EN? I could generate something myself (guesswork), but wanted to ask you first since I'm striving for an industry-specific expression.

Thanks!

Glad to have helped and thanks, you too!

@Björn: Thanks so much for all your efforts! Much appreciated. This is indeed a great explanation. Have a great evening!

RE configuration and setting I think Mr. Brown did a good job of explaining this on Quora:
"The configuration of a computer and/or software is comprised of a group of specific settings. A setting is the discrete value selected on particular option. Example: the setting on the volume control is at 50%.

Settings plural and configuration are essentially synonymous. Configuration implies a standard group of settings, but is not always the case."

Though, as someone else on there pointed out, people might use these terms interchangeably, so it's not as clear cut as one would like. But the above is how I've seen the words used. Similarly:
"Configuration is a set of preferences and/or settings (e.g. debug/release schemes in compiler options)."

PS And I know you said "I could generate something myself"; what I'm trying to say is that you will have to, in my opinion. In contrast to your other Q, I don't think you'll find much about it online.

In essence, anytime they tell you that a meal takes 20 minutes to prepare or cook, that's a Richtwert. They don't know how fast you are or whether the duck you got out of the freezer has been lying there for a few hours =)

Would "standard configuration value" work? What's the diff between setting and configuration in tech lingo?
Björn Vrooman Sep 14, 2023:
@Lirka Liz is pretty much right, IMO. Could be "standard setting" or "factory setting."

From an ENS manual entitled "Thermo Scientific Homogenizer Laboratory Blender":
"To revert to the factory setting ('standard setting'), please follow the
instructions at the rear of the unit."
https://assets.fishersci.com/TFS-Assets/MBD/manuals/Homogeni...

Saying this because:
"Einstellrichtwerte (entspricht der Einstellung ab Werk)"
https://www.manualslib.de/manual/481615/Siemens-Synco-700-Rm...

I don't believe there's a special term for this. It's just one of those cases where Germans like to form a compound for no reason other than...they like compound nouns.

Here we have Einstellung (or einstellen) = setting and Richtwert = benchmark or reference value; also, default or recommended value. As happens sometimes, it's just better to turn it around here, e.g., recommended setting, as an alternative. If neither factory nor recommended (nor anything similar) work in your context, we would need (half) a sentence.

Disclaimer: Really not my field.

Best wishes
