One part of what students will be trained to do. I'm not clear on whether 'disciplinar' means disciplinary, simply in terms of the discipline of psychology / psychiatry, or whether it refers to something more specific and/or discipline in terms of behaviour.

If this is correct, then it really is a redundant phrase that need not be translated but, if you felt compelled to do so, you could use “in the field.”

My recommendation is to translate the entire phrase “en el área del quehacer disciplinar” with “in the field” (which effectively would leave “el quehacer disciplinar” untranslated).
Sorry for not being more clear about this initially.
