To me, the language "se niegan" in the first two sentences makes it sound like this is a court ruling--which it clearly is not. So could "se niegan" be translated here along the lines of "is deemed baseless"--that is, reflecting the view of the defendants in this case?

If the case is pending elsewhere, the case should not be reheard here. That's the nature of the defenc/se of lis alibi pendens.
