Spanish term

Ya tardaba!

Spanish to English Other Poetry & Literature
This occurs in a script for a fun explanation of the universe for chldren to be shown in a science museum, aimed at young children in Spain.

The conversation takes place between two stars. One star is floating around peacefully, another arrives singing loudly and the first star says this.

Vaya! Ya tardaba! Alguien estropeando el silencio

Does it mean Just what I needed!

I think your suggestion is OK, or "all you need!"

This might work.

Thanks :)
neutral Wendy Streitparth : Then you'd have to rephrase the next bit.

I don't think you have to rephrase the next bit. I would say 'It couldn't last! Somebody had to ruin the silence!'
agree philgoddard : Or "It was nice while it lasted".

it was bound to happen sooner or later

or

it had to happen sooner or later

it was just waiting to happen!

That's all I needed!

---

you could omit "sooner or later" from either of the 1st two suggestions. And I think the last suggestion - albeit quite natural sounding in the context - is a little further from the meaning of the ST, viz, something about to happen (but hadn't yet) to spoil the peace and quiet

Finally! / At (long) last!
