Spanish term
segregación
Spanish to English
Other
Education / Pedagogy
The context is the higher education reform in Chile of 1981.
Does anyone know what this "segregación" refers too? I know in the case of State universities, regional campuses were converted into independent universities. Was a different method applied to private universities?
Note: this is an article to be published in a journal.

This is what it looks like to me.
University of Bordeaux - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Bordeaux
Following May 1968, **the university was split into three universities:** Bordeaux 1, Bordeaux 2, and Bordeaux 3. In 1995, Bordeaux 4 split off from Bordeaux I.

In the sentence itself it would read, "..one of them splitting/dividing into..." or the passive construction, "one of them being split/divided into..."
