In a psychiatry text proposing a Spanish translation for the word "salience" as opposed to the neologism "saliencia", which does not exist in Spanish, the process of creating the neologism is called "españolización."
Thanks for any suggestions.

Spanishify
This is an obsolete English word. So it seems appropriate for a neologism like "españolización". There is of course "neologization" but that seems unimaginative.

: No, this is not it. This refers to the mixture of Spanish and English in the same syntatical unit, such as: Esto es el matter que tenemos que resolve.

: This doesn't decribe the process of creating a neologism.

Hispanicization
Hispanization and Hispanicization are sometimes interchanged but I would tend to go to the former since the root is "to hispanicize"

Sorry, I meant to say the latter

: Hispanicisation is the standard UK English term, it is the same register as "anglicisation".

Spanification
It is used widely enough, though admittedly with a range of meanings on the theme of "making (more) Spanish". But I think it would work well here.

David Hollywood
: I prefer "Hispanization" because "Spanification" although a valid option has a strange ring to my Anglophone ears ... "Hispanization" sounds more formal and less abrasive (just me maybe) :)

Agree 'Hispanization' sounds more formal, but the words are equally abrasive to my Anglophone ear :)

Jennifer Levey
: Given that most UK English natives never use any 'hispan...' words (except to refer to the island of Hispaniola in history classes), this is the most likely to be comprehended in that particularly anglo-English culture.
