Spanish term

integrar en un avion

Spanish to English Social Sciences Advertising / Public Relations
This is from a press release about an aircraft manufacturer. Thanks!

Con estas nuevas instalaciones de XXX, se alcanza una de las principales metas establecidas en el Mapa de Ruta del Sector Aeroespacial de México (Plan de Vuelo Nacional): integrar en un avión con alto contenido de valor nacional.

Discussion

patyjs (asker) Oct 27, 2010:
The parts are built in Mexico and shipped elsewhere for assembly.
Christine Walsh Oct 27, 2010:
Paty, Could you confirm whether the whole plane will be built and assembled in Mexico, or significant parts for assembly elsewhere? Saludos
patyjs (asker) Oct 27, 2010:
Hello Robert, Yes, it seems strange to me, too. They manufacture aircraft parts and components. (Foreign company with installations in Mexico.)
Robert Forstag Oct 27, 2010:
@Paty Do you know what XXX is going to be manufacturing in the "nuevas instalaciones"? This might make a difference in the translations proposed. The entire phrase "integrar en un avión con alto contenido de valor nacional" seems very strange (at least to me) so any additional clues would help. :)

participate in the building of a plane with a high proportion of parts manufactured in Mexico

(Even if it is later put together and tested in the US)

I chose 'manufactured in Mexico' rather than 'national' as I imagined the intended readers would not be Mexican.

I found your original, and I think this is what is meant, though as Robert says it's a strange sentence. I must admit that my version is rather clumsy, though.

Glad to be of help. Your version is considerably neater.

Hi Christine, at least now I know what they're getting at. Thanks!

build a high degree of added value of national origin into an aircraft

Or something like that.

I think that's close to the least awkward way of saying they aim to put as much Mexican added value into the aircraft as they possibly can.

(disregard "en") build a complete aircraft with a high added-value of national origin

I think the "en" has crept into the term by mistake because in this version below it is not there.

I think "integrar" means to build a complete aircraft.

according to the reference I gave, the extension to the plant is to be used to produce a new aircraft, which is why I understand "integrar" as "to build a whole aircraft":

"... la construcción de nuevas estructuras como fuselajes y alas, así como de arneses eléctricos y sub ensambles, permitirá a esta firma iniciar la producción del nuevo avión ejecutivo XXXXXXX XX"
