I know this term has been asked before. However, I'm still not sure what term to use in English. I've got several options but can't decide. What would the best equivalent be in English? UK English if possible, please.

Many thanks in advance!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you all for the great answers and comments! I am sure there are many ways to translate this term - it was very hard to choose. In the end, I used 'natural site'- for one thing because it's one of the translations provided by EUNIS: http://eunis.eea.europa.eu/designations-factsheet.jsp?idDesign=05.B.14&geoscope=69 And my client preferred this option too. Thanks again!! Sheila"

Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)

I usually translate as follows:

Reserva Natural - Nature Reserve
Paraje Natural - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

simply as a way of differentiating between Spanish designations in English, because Andalucía also has "Reservas Naturales", listed here:

agree Noni Gilbert Riley : This is an excellent solution to a constant dilemma, since the Spanish legal terms are distinct. Hats off to you!
