There are now a few tools that you can purchase and that help you with the translation process and that have a set of common features:
A_Using and applying glossary terms anywhere where text can be edited (CAT, Web, MS Office).
B_Using and applying More than one Machine Translation engine where text can be edited.
C_Pre translating a file with MT
D_Many specific tasks can be configured to be performed via keyboard shortcuts

Two big names in this department are GT4T and Bohemicus.
Have you found a proper label used somewhere for these apps? If not, could we propose one?
If you know of any other similar apps (matching at least 3 of the 4 specific functions listed above), could you post them here? I know of another that is in the works too.

Just three quick questions:
1. Using the app with ChatGPT takes 9 seconds (9:56 to 10:05) to translate a single segment. Is it a normal speed for that app (I mean does it always takes that long)?
2. You mentioned that the app can pretranslate a file but it is not quite clear whether it pretranslates from your own TM attached to Bohemicus or from an MT engine of your choice (or both)?
In other words, how can the app do your point C_Pre translating a file with MT. Can it pretranslate all segments in one go or do I have to wait for 9 seconds on every single segment?
3. Why one may need to remove MT/NMT/AT labels in the CAT tool grid? =)

In the video I test a very specific task which requires a lot of work, hence the time. In other situations, it’s a lot faster. I haven’t timed it though.
1- But, LLM are a lot slower than MT every time (see my video on the Intento report). However, for efficiency, if you LLM performs extra task for you (as demoed in the video), then you can factor in the overall job effort and see if it is advantageous to a translator or not depending on his u... In the video I test a very specific task which requires a lot of work, hence the time. In other situations, it’s a lot faster. I haven’t timed it though.
1- But, LLM are a lot slower than MT every time (see my video on the Intento report). However, for efficiency, if you LLM performs extra task for you (as demoed in the video), then you can factor in the overall job effort and see if it is advantageous to a translator or not depending on his usual tasks succession.
2- Jan will correct me if I’m wrong but you MT translate an entire file. You can leverage local MT for segments (not sure for full file though, I haven’t tested this).
3- GT4T also has that functionality, so I suppose some people are requesting it.
I find interesting that that kind of tools keeps being developed, Gt4T, Bohemicus, now ProZ Pastey and Terminotix is working on a very polished one too.
My sense is that this kind of apps are getting traction. ▲ Collapse
