The observatory for sure? Jun 22, 2006

Good to hear people feeling excited. If I do not receive objections within a week, I will confirm THE OBSERVATORY.
Agendas could be also suggested, I am receptive to your needs...say something.

Claudia and all of you:
You MUST bring an umbrella!
People living here believe in umbrellas in the gardens.

Or at least a raincoat.

It will be fun!

Agenda items Jun 23, 2006

Hi Ana,
I have not been to a powow before, and wonder what sort of items are usually tabled on the agenda.

What is a powow? For PeterE especially: Jun 23, 2006

Powwows are informal get-togethers of groups of ProZ.com members living in close proximity. The events are organized by local translators, for local translators. This is from the FAQ under POWOWS in the Proz.com site. You can obviously sugges items of interest, PeterE! Pleae Do! And bring the pipe of the peace to share around. This is also for Claudia, who asked what to bring.

Latest powwow instructions to fellow linguists Jun 26, 2006

HI All! Great to know we already have a photographer, an organizer and a large bottle of Barossa wine!
It would be a good idea for you all to glance at the FAQ related to Powwows as many relevant matters are explained there (such as agenda possibilities and others). You all need to bring your Proz.com identity number to be credited brownies. I will have an attendance sheet where to write these numbers.

We need a HOST and a REPORTER. Any volunteers?

I will be doing the booking with THE OBSERVATORY by the end of the week unless
instructed not to do so.

Ah, Claudia, the other thing to bring is a "competitive dance"(please read the FAQs).

Hasta pronto!

Reporter & Host Jun 27, 2006

Hi Ana, I forgot. I wouldn't mind writing an article. The host would be you no? You have started this, so I think it's fair to call you host. This will earn you 2000 points.

Bookings and Claudia's Clogs Jul 6, 2006

I've seen Claudia perform at the Multicultural Festival in Brissy last year).
Is the drop from 1K to 50 what you call inflation, Ana? If they won't budge, I am happy to pay for the booking, and collect on the day - that's Dutch, nu?

IMPORTANT - Partners?? Jul 6, 2006

We invited partners to the Brissy POWOWS last year, but I am not sure what the arrangements are for Melbourne. My partner is flying in with me, and I think Claudia's as well - can you kindly clarify if we have to park them at the airport before storming the Observatory?

Partners OK Jul 7, 2006

Partners, children, friends, everybody but dogs unfortunately, is OK.
Thank you, Sam for your kind offer. I can pay for the booking fee, do not worry, and I will accept your help for collection.
No, the drop was not due to inflation but misinformation...

Good news! Jul 13, 2006

Finalized negotiations with The Observatory. If we are under 10 people, no booking is necessary, if we are more than 10, we pay $50 booking fee but we recover it after!!
So all is well...

Grand Jul 13, 2006

Thank you so much Ana. Now that we have dealt with the lower steps of Maslow's ladder, lets climb higher. We know what's on the menu, so what's on the agenda?
One suggestion: Translators in Oz - where are we now; and where are we going?
