This is how Trados (SDL2006 freelance version) memorize repetitions, any idea?

The characters are garbled. From my experience, this kind of thing happens when the translation memory is created by an OS which does not support your language. This is not limited to SDL 2006, it has been happening to me when I was using Trados 6.5, and the same where I am now using 2007 Freelance. In my case, this happens especially where I am being asked to translate from Italian or German into my native language, where they have those unique characters such as umlauts or accented letters. When I work with Word documents that were created using far east Word version (Korean, Japanese etc.).
Sometimes it helps if you copy the text to a new document, without the last paragraph sign.
If not, use TagEditor to translate the Word document.

It happens when the segment contains some latin letters (like the code or serial number of a device or an equipment) which is frequent in the source text.
So you had this problem solved with 2007 Freelance?

I had the same problem with Trados when translating directly in Word, but after switching to TagEditor, everything is OK.
There are several solutions for this problem in Word, but AFAIK, none of them are 100% reliable. You can change the font settings in TWB, change the document's fonts, or re-open an already translated segment and close it again. Therefore, I recommend to import your Word file in TagEditor, complete your translation, and then save it as target language. Your TM will be perfectly usable in this way (only new segments, not the previously corrupted ones, of course!)

Dear Mariam,
No, this problem has not been solved even though I use 2007 Freelance. As Yossi pointed out, using TagEditor is one solution. I have never encountered any problems with Latin alphabets such as Italian, German, French, etc. which have special characters using TagEditor, but for WorkBench, this still happens.

If you'll click the Show/Hide button in Word's toolbar (or from the menu, Tools -> Options -> View -> Formatting marks -> Paragraph marks), you'll see the formatting marks. The paragraph sign looks like ¶.

Reogranise helps with the first segment just after the "reorganise" then It turns mad again.
