Source text - English The differential is a device that splits
power between 2 wheels.
As a car drives straight, its wheels will
travel the same distance and rotate at
the same speed.
When a car turns, the outside wheels will
follow a longer path around the curve.
If the inside and outside wheels were
connected by a mechanically solid axle,
they would force each other to rotate at
the same speed.
The speed difference between the
wheels on the shorter, inside path and
the wheels on the longer, outside path
would result in tire wear, poor handling,
and if the traction of the tires were too
great, the axle itself could be damaged.
Automobiles can have several types of
differentials; Open, Limited-Slip, and
Locking.
An open differential lets either wheel spin
at any speed traction allows.
The majority of cars on the road have
this kind of differential.
A limited slip differential has either
viscous liquid or small clutch packs to
allow power to go to the wheel with
traction while the other wheel is spinning
without traction.
This type of differential is mostly seen on
sports cars.
A locking differential uses a mechanical
connection to lock or unlock both wheels.
The only usual application for this is offroading
in trucks or SUVs.
Translation - Arabic الترس التفاضلي ھو اداة تقسم القدرة بین عجلتین
عند تسیر المركبة بخط مستقیم فان كل عجلاتھا سوف تقطع نفس
المسافة وبنفس السرعة.
عندما تنعطف السیارة فان العجلات الخارجیة ستقطع مسارا اطول
حول المنعطف
لو كانت العجلات الخارجیة والداخلیة مرتبطات معا بواسطة محور
صلب فانھا سوف تجبر بعضھا البعض على الدوران بنفس السرعة.
ان الفرق في السرعة بین العجلات ذات المسار الداخلي الاقصر وتلك
ذات المسار الخارجي الاطول قد یؤدي الى تلف الاطارات و سوء
التحكم و في حال كانت قوة الجر على الاطارات كبیر جدا فان ذلك قد یؤدي الى اتلاف محور الدوران نفسه.
ھنالك عدة انواع من التروس التفاضلیة للسیارات فمنھا المفتوح و المحدود الانزلاق
والقابل للاقفال.
الترس التفاضلي المفتوح یدع كل عجلة تدور بالسرعة التي
تسمح بھا درجة ثبات الاطارات على الطريق.
اغلب السیارات التي تسیر في الطرقات تمتلك ھذا النوع من التروس
التفاضلیة.
اما الترس التفاضلي المحدود الانزلاق فھو اما یكون مزود بسائل
لزج او مجموعات قوابض صغیرة لیسمح للقدرة بان تذھب للعجلة
ذات الثبات العالي على الطريق في الحین الذي تقوم فيه العجلة الاخرى
بالدوران بدون ثبات على الطريق.
یستخدم ھذا النوع من التروس التفاضلیة في سیارات السباق في
الغالب.
اما الترس التفاضلي القابل للاقفال فانه یستخدم وصلة میكانیكیة لقفل
او فك كلتي العجلتین.
الاستخدام الوحید الشائع لھذا النوع الأخیر ھو لغرض السیر في
الطرق غیر المعبدة بواسطة الشاحنات او سیارات الدفع الرباعي.
