Good day,
which application would you suggest for translation assistance? I am looking for a simple application that can count words, collect repeated terms, give me a tool to translate them all at once to save time and effort
Thanks.

How much money do you have to spend?

OmegaT is free and will probably do most of the things you would like to do. Cafetran costs 80 Euro and seems to be in favor by many colleagues. I myself use Wordfast Classic and Wordfast Pro, the license is 500 Euro, but you can use it also for free. In Windows you can run most of the more expensive tools like SDL Trados and MemoQ.

Memsource has a similar look and feel to MemoQ, which however has a lot more functionalities. The full version is not free, but there is a limited free edition available here: http://kilgray.com/editions/4free
And if you want to try out the fully-featured version, you can use the full software for free during a period of during 45 days (http://kilgray.com/downloads).

Being a free cat tool, it lacks many features paid cat tools have yet OmegaT is a very good option as it doesn't have a size limit on translation units or a limit in the file number. OmegaT is FREE and with it, you can count words, collect repeated terms and translate the repetitions automatically and you have a whole number of people willing to answer your questions. It's a good option to start out with.

You can do all of these things with MS Word.
But you won't be able to build up your translation memory (TM) with MSWord.
