1. While working with MS Word, I simply select some matter, open a new blank Word file and then paste the matter there. I am unable to do so in respect of powerpoint. Could you please suggest me how to copy a slide from a powerpoint presentation and make a separate file from it?

2. I need to insert some slides from a different Powerpoint file into another powerpoint file. How should I do that?

Please explain the detailed procedure.

A simple copy paste will also work Aug 20, 2009

Open both the files. Select the slides you want from the ppt, copy them (ctr+c). Now switch to the other file and do (ctrl+v). The slides would now appear in the second ppt file.
