Hi, My client has sent me a trados 6.5 memory in text format. I also have version 6.5, but when I import the text file into a new trados memory, Trados tells me that the import was successull but shows 0 segments imported, 0 segments read, etc. The memory obviously isn't working, I should be finding matches but I'm not. Any ideas? | | | Ulla Adamsson (X) Local time: 01:05 English to Swedish + ... Maybe a solution | Jun 13, 2006 |
I have found that this usually occurs if I try to import with the setting "Small import file (no reorganisation)". Have you tried using "Large impoort file (with reorganisation"? | | | Linda Ildevert (X) United Kingdom Local time: 00:05 French to English TOPIC STARTER already tried! | Jun 13, 2006 |
Yes, Ulla, thanks for your reply. I have tried both ways and neither works. I really don't know what to try next. I have asked the client to send the trados version of the memory, but no reply.... | | | Vito Smolej Germany Local time: 01:05 Member (2004) English to Slovenian + ... the difference between the text (EN_GB for instance) and TM (EN_US) can definitely be one of the possible causes for "0 records accepted." | |

Hi, This is often causd by a mismatch in languages and/or locales (typically, US English (EN-US) vs. Britisch English (EN-GB)). Check the import file against your TM settings. HTH, Ralf | | | Linda Ildevert (X) United Kingdom Local time: 00:05 French to English TOPIC STARTER
Hi, I have checked the languages and they match... Thanks for the suggestion! | | | Vito Smolej Germany Local time: 01:05 Member (2004) English to Slovenian + ... SITE LOCALIZER Here's some more... | Jun 13, 2006 |
Check the TM settings for fields and attributes(in Project settings or in "File/Setup"). I'm still lost in this part of the TRADOS country but it could well be, that TM does not accept TUs with mismatched text fields and/or attributes. And of course Vice versa... By now I would have taken the txt file apart and create a bilingual something out of it... Kudos for patience;) Vito | | | Linda Ildevert (X) United Kingdom Local time: 00:05 French to English TOPIC STARTER
Hi everyone, Thanks for all your suggestions, I have made a note of them in case there is a next time! In the end I managed to persuade the customer to send me the .tmw version of the memory and it worked like a dream! | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Importing memory in txt format Protemos translation business management system | Create your account in minutes, and start working! 3-month trial for agencies, and free for freelancers!
