I got old MT termbase from a cliean and converted it to XML, then created a new DB in MT 7 and imported the file. Everything seemed ok, but there are 0 entries in the termbase.

I checked the XML file. It seems ok, as far as I can tell (there are both source and target information and translations in XML format).

I would appreciate any hints.

Irregularities in import Jun 7, 2006

Further import attempts process all entries, but result with "irregularies in import". Again, zero entries in final product.

check the log file Jun 7, 2006

it says, why certain records were not accepted. In my case the reason was nearly always a wrong language pair, i.e. difference between what's been declared in the xdt and what actually the term pairs had.

Regards

Did you use MT Convert? Jun 7, 2006

Hi Jussi,
I got old MT termbase from a cliean and converted it to XML, then created a new DB in MT 7 and imported the file.

Did you use MultiTerm Convert for this purpose?
Did you use the .xdt file created by MT Convert to set up your termbase?

Best regards,
Ralf

But ok, I will try to investigate the language tags.

Thanks,

Yes, I used MT Convert. I didn't use the .xdt file, I didn't know I should. Will try this, too.

Thanks,

if you have an old MultiTerm MTB... Jun 7, 2006

there should be no need to convert to XML etc.

Use (i.e. try with) Load External Database... instead

Problem solved, thank you Jun 7, 2006

I managed to solve the problem, thanks to your help. I needed to fix the language fields manually (desc file didn't work, as I would have hoped). But the desc information was also handy, since I had similar problem with xls import, and this I was able to fix with a .xdt.

(no, i didn't have old mdb, just the other file set)

Thanks so much!

EXactly same sorry & stupid experience here. Good to know: 0 records accepted is a sure indication of something stinky in this direction...

Pleased to hear you're flying

Vito
