jouwe Stella.

Literally translated in English, complete with all mistakes, it sounds like -

my love,
how are you,
I hope everything is OK, so it is a pleasure for me to contact
you on the contact person on (proz.com) who
really are interesting me in having communication with you as I
have the desire in having of communication with you as you
will have the desire with me,
here is my e-mail ([email protected]) as I shall
wait to hear from you,
your Stella.

Since when is Proz a dating site?

As translator I already receive enough "shit" (forgive me the word), and I don't pay about a 100 Euros a year to receive it through your website. I am not amused.

Please take the necessary actions.

Kind regards,

Robert Rietvelt

Click on the spam link Feb 11, 2014

At the bottom of every mail through ProZ there's a link for reporting spam.

Support ticket Feb 11, 2014

Robert,

The normal way of dealing with this is to open a support ticket and alert proz staff about this. This will be much more effective than a rant in the forum (although I understand your anger).

In my experience, anti spam measures work quite well on this site. It would be unreasonably costly to manually check every message before it is sent to you.

Appropriate action has been taken Feb 11, 2014

Dear Robert,

Thanks for reporting this. I have blocked this person's access to the site. If you receive similar emails, you can report them by clicking on the link at the bottom of every email sent through ProZ.com. This will create an automatic support request that includes the information necessary to block the scammer.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Best regards,
Alejandro

What to do Feb 11, 2014

You are all right, I wasn't aware of this possibility, because I never had to use it. I forwarded the mail as spam to Proz. What now, shall I delete this thread, or leave it. I can use some advice.

Yes. But: you have to be logged in to report spam. So you'll have to copy/paste the link into the browser that you usually use for ProZ.com, otherwise ProZ.com won't accept the spam report.

Keep calm and ignore them! Feb 11, 2014

The reason why any of us can get such a letter is simply because everyone is online in the 21st century and we all have emails. Spammers sneak about everywhere, it's not something that only happened to ProZ users (I've got one from Facebook... and even LinkedIn!), so the only thing we can do is report, delete and move on!

You are right Feb 11, 2014

Dear Natalia,
You are right, but I get so much of these so called "dating messages", that I am totally fed up with them, hence my (too fast) reply.
