I volunteer for a charity that works with local schools in Africa. However the HQ is in Holland, and we need the Dutch documents in English. Google Translate doesn't even do a good enough job for me to work it out and so i'm searching for pro bono translators to help.

Can anyone suggest how to advertise for this service? I am not sure if Proz is the right place.

Thanks.

Translators without borders? Oct 6, 2011

Maybe you could go through Translators without borders? Some ProZ translators do pro bono work through them.

But it's restricted to native Dutch speakers only! So native Anglos can't even see who posted it.

If you do post a pro bono job, such restrictions limit the number of applicants and mean the English will need to be re-worked so it reads correctly. I recommend allowing native Anglos to translate as well. Limiting the job to

If you do post a pro bono job, such restrictions limit the number of applicants and mean the English will need to be re-worked so it reads correctly. I recommend allowing native Anglos to translate as well. Limiting the job to source language natives runs the risk of being counter-productive.

I posted it (having been advised that I can in fact post probono jobs on proz) - but hadn't realised i'd put in Dutch native speaker. Oops, that was a mistake. I'll see if i can correct it - thanks for pointing it out.
