Dear colleague,

I have an usual request from a client. I work with Studio 2011. I have two folders. In each folder, there's a word file with links, and various other files that correspond to the links (1 file with 11 links and 11 other files, for instance).

I am supposed to:

- import the folders
- then open the two files with the links and click on the links to edit the content of the other files included in the folders

However:

- I manage to import the folders, but I cannot find the files list in the folder window below. It remains empty, although the folders have been properly imported (according to the analysis)

- When I open one of the two files containing the links, through the manual option Open file, I cannot click on those links, they do not redirect me to the content of the other files which they are supposed to refer to. I can see the links, but it's just editable text, but they do not react as links when I click on them

The agency has never had to deal with this procedure. It's the end client who is asking for it. Has anyone a clue?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Patrick

Adding Folders Apr 30, 2013

Hi Patrick,

I guess you are referring to the dialog window where you add the folders? Have you tried clicking on the folder on the left? When you do this the files will appear in the list. If you don't then perhaps you also have sub-folders in there in which case you can click this little icon to see all the files in the all the subfolders at the same time:

Maybe this is the part you're missing?

On the clicking links... this is not how the translation software works. You simply translate the files and the links if appropriate within them. The idea being that once you finish and restore the folder structure in the target language then all the links will still work when back in the native application. Of course if you change the translation for the links then they may not... so you need to make sure you understand what is required and expected from your client.

Paul

Dear Paul,

Thanls for this long answer.

1/ The files: I have no problem with the creation of the project, but when I try to open the section where the files show up, AFTER the creation of the project, I see nothing in there.

2/ The links: I guess you are right and that the end client is working with another version

Thanks anyway,
Patrick
