Warszawa – piastująca od ponad czterech stuleci godność stolicy – jest największym miastem w Polsce, centrum wydarzeń gospodarczych, politycznych i kulturalnych. Symbolem miasta jest widniejąca w jej herbie Syrenka. Warszawa to tętniąca życiem metropolia i jednocześnie miasto o niepowtarzalnej historii. Miasto, w którym niemal ¼ obszaru zajmują tereny zieleni: parki, skwery i ogrody. Warsaw is a vibrant and thriving metropolis and, at the same time, a city with a unique history. It’s a city full of greenery – almost a quarter of Warsaw is filled with parks, parklets and lush gardens. The city’s historic parks -- the Saxon Gardens, Lazienki Park and Wilanow, the grounds of former royal and aristocratic residences -- now complemented by modern parks and gardens such as the rooftop gardens of the Warsaw University Library and Pole Mokotowski, are cherished by residents and visitors alike.
Warsaw is home to several nature reserves and to two botanical gardens. It is also one of the few cities in the world with forests growing within its city limits. The Kampinoski National Park is recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.
It’s worth spending a few days in Warsaw to become familiar with its unique atmosphere. Thanks to the city’s diversity, as well as the extensive range of activities it offers, everyone can find something that will interest them. Historic palaces and churches stand next to modern buildings; quiet, cozy cafes compete with the pounding music of fashionable clubs. Source text - English The Negev Desert
The Negev, which extends over Israel’s southern region, accounts for over half of Israel’s land area. Due to its desert character, however, this region is sparsely populated.
Even so, the Negev has seen its share of history. Abraham built his home in Be'er Sheva, the Nabateans passed through here on caravans of camels laden with precious trade goods.
For these and other reasons, the Negev has become one of Israel’s popular tourism sites.
Various peoples have lived in the Negev since the dawn of history: nomads, Canaanites, Philistines, Edomites, Byzantines, Nabateans, Ottomans and of course Israelis. Their economy was based mainly on sheep herding and agriculture, and later also on trade.
The story of the Nabateans is particularly fascinating. The Nabateans were lords of the desert, where they established a trade route known as the “Spice Road.” Caravans of camels traversed this route carrying spices, perfumes and salt from Yemen in the East to the port city of Gaza. Rest stops were built along the route and their remains still beautify the Negev expanses today (Avdat, Mamashit and others).
The modern Israeli settlement of the Negev began about 100 years ago, when a few communities were built. These were joined by another 11 settlements whose founding members built the first homes in a single night. After the establishment of Israel, the new country’s first prime minister, David Ben Gurion, promoted the settlement of the Negev and after he moved to live in Sde Boker a few more settlements were built.
The Negev is defined as a desert due to the small quantities of rain that fall here (less than 200 millimeters annually), and is divided into several regions, starting with the Be'er Sheva-Arad rift in the north, to mountain ridge in the center and the Arava and Eilat in the south. Although the Negev is barren most days of the year, its expanses desolate and its river beds dry, nature here is very surprising. In the winter, despite the small quantities of rain, the Negev is covered with amazing flowers, including luscious red anemones. When there are heavy storms they can cause flash flooding along the riverbeds.
Today the Negev is the gateway to the desert. It offers charming nature corners, historical and archeological sites, springs and the remains of agricultural compounds. Tourism in the desert is a developing industry and many tourists explore its expanses on foot, on bicycle and in all-terrain vehicles.

Pustynia Negew, która położona jest w południowej części Izraela, zajmuje ponad połowę powierzchni całego kraju. Ze względu na przeważający, pustynny charakter regionu, teren ten cechuje niewielka gęstość zaludnienia.
Niemniej jednak, Negew odegrał niezwykle ważną rolę historyczną. Wśród istotnych wydarzeń wystarczy wspomnieć, że Abraham zbudował swój dom w Be'er Szewie, a Nabatejczycy przechodzili tędy wraz z karawanami wielbłądów, wyładowanymi bezcennymi towarami. Z tych i wielu innych powodów, Negew stał się jednym z najchętniej odwiedzanych przez turystów regionów w Izraelu.
Liczne narody zamieszkiwały pustynię na przestrzeni wielu wieków. Między innymi Nomadzi, Kananejczycy, Filistyni, Edomici, Nabatejczycy, ludność Imperium Bizantyjskiego i Otomańskiego, a także, choć może przede wszystkim, Izraelici. Gospodarka tych ludów opierała się w głównej mierze na hodowli owiec i uprawie ziemi, dopiero później także na handlu.
Szczególnie fascynująca zdaje się być historia Nabatajczyków. Byli oni panami pustyni i na niej właśnie stworzyli szlak handlowy, znany jako „Szlak Wonności”. Karawany wielbłądów przemierzały tę trasę niosąc na swych grzbietach przyprawy, wonności i sól. Podążały z Jemenu na wschód, do portu w mieście Gaza. Dla zapewnienia wytchnienia wędrowcom, po drodze zbudowano liczne miejsca postoju, a ich pozostałości i ruiny do dziś zdobią bezmiar pustyni. Są wśród nich miejsca takie jak, Avdat, Mamaszit i wiele innych.
Współczesne osadnictwo izraelskie na pustyni Negew rozpoczęło się około 100 lat temu, po tym jak zbudowano tam kilka osiedli. Krótko później powstało kolejnych jedenaście osad, których założyciele postawili swoje domy w ciągu jednej nocy. Po powstaniu Państwa Izrael, jego pierwszy premier, Dawid Ben Gurion silnie zaangażował się w promowanie osadnictwa na tym terenie, a po tym jak sam przeprowadził się i zamieszkał w Sde Boker powstało w pobliżu jeszcze kilka nowych osiedli.
Negew został zaklasyfikowany jako teren pustynny ze względu na niewielką ilość opadów w tym rejonie (mniej niż 200 milimetrów na metr kwadratowy rocznie). Pustynia Negew podzielona jest na kilka regionów. Wśród nich wyróżnia się dolinę Be'er Szewa-Arad na północy, a także pasmo górskie zajmujące centralną część terenu pustyni oraz regiony Arava i Eilat na południu. Choć terytorium Negewu przez większość roku jest terenem jałowym, nieużytkiem, pełnym dzikich i opustoszałych przestrzeni oraz wyschniętych koryt rzek, to lokalna przyroda bywa bardzo zaskakująca. Zimą, na przykład, pomimo niewielkich opadów deszczu, Negew zachwyca bujną roślinnością. Wśród występujących tu wielu pięknych gatunków kwiatów, zobaczyć można ponętne czerwone anemony. Potężne ulewy zdarzają się tu rzadko, ale mogą prowadzić do tego, że nagle korytami rzek płyną rwące potoki.
Dziś Negew stanowi przedsionek pustyni. Znaleźć tu można zachwycające przyrodą zakątki, zabytki historyczne i archeologiczne, naturalne źródła i pozostałości osad rolniczych. Turystyka pustynna jest nowym i dobrze rozwijającym się sektorem izraelskiej gospodarki. Wielu urlopowiczów poznaje pustynię przemierzając ją pieszo, na rowerze lub wykorzystując do tego samochody terenowe.

20 października 2009 roku w Otwocku spotkali się uczniowie Liceum
Ogólnokształcącego im. K.I. Gałczyńskiego i Rene-Cassini High School z Jerozolimy.
Obydwie szkoły uczestniczą w projekcie „Blizej siebie. Historia i kultura dwóch narodów”
realizowanym od 2002 przez ORE i instytut Yad Vashem. Pierwszy kontakt został nawiązany
miedzy nauczycielami szkół: Katarzyną Kałuszko i Haggai Hallel w czerwcu 2008 na
seminarium w Jerozolimie.

"קרוב יותר. ההיסטוריה והתרבות של שני העמים".
מדי שנה לפולין מגיעים כ – 40 אלף ישראלים צעירים. עד עכשיו הם היו מבקרים קודם כל את אתרי ההשמדה והסבל של העם היהודי. הפרויקט "קרוב יותר" שנוצר הודות לשיתוף פעולה בין המכון המרכזי להכשרת המורים, משרד החינוך הישראלי, מכון פולני בתל אביב ומכון יד ושם בירושלים אמור לשנות את המצב.

For three years I have worked as the translator and assistant to the Economical Attache at the Israeli Embassy in Warsaw. My job among others was to translate offers of the Israeli companies and translate during busienss meetings.
I have MA in law at the Warsaw University, where I also graduated the British Law School.
For a year I have studied Middle Eastern History and Politics at the Tel Aviv University.
For two months I had a fellowship at one of the lobbying institutes in Washington D.C.
My passions are traveling, music, theater and movies.
