Morning all,
Here's the term in context, in a clause about assigned receivables in the event of a party going bust.
Die abgetretene Forderung bezieht sich auch auf einen anerkannten bzw. im Fall der Insolvenz des Abnehmers des Bestellers auf den „kausalen“ Saldo.
There are _loads_ of hits for this one in various places, but the "causal balance" indicated seems to be a literal translation used only in the English-language versions of the company websites concerned.
Does anyone have a "proper" English translation?
Cheers,
Andy

German term (edited):
„kausaler“ Saldo
Selected
available top-up "feed" balance
'Causa' in Romance lingos cf. la cause in FR, is more akin to support with valuable consideration e.g. a quid pro quo or payment (into a 'pot' available for distribution to creditors) than causation-linked.
Eichborn (gulp!); kausales Rechtsgeschäft = valuable consideration
Available feed: topped up by the level of claims actually recovered from debtors.

Perchance you could meantime clarify on- or off-list where you, unless audodictactically to wit: self-taught, did verily study 'my' languages. There appears to be UCL in there.

Excuse me. Being past retirement age, I'm somewhat slow off the mark. Your command of the noble Scandinavian lingos did make me verily think that you had clocked up 3 Nordic languages 'for the price of one', as is a catchphrase of University College London's Scandinavian Dept. - rather than at my alma mater of UniS in Guildford.

Example sentence:
Der jährliche Saldo ist zunächst nur eine kausale Saldoforderung , die zwar selbständig eingeklagt werden kann, aber vom Bestand der Einzelforderungen abhängig ist.
Note from asker:
Hi Adrian, Thanks for that. It confirms that I need a snappier way of saying "residual assets still available to creditors in the event of insolvency". "Insolvency" and "available balance" seem to go well together. Have some points! Cheers, Andy |
...it seems I have to wait another hour until 24 hours have elapsed. So watch this space! |
Did you get my other comment about "UCL"? This "note to answerer" thing doesn't seem to be working properly. |
It said: "Moin Adrian, What's a UCL? I'm assuming you don't mean University College London! Cheers, AB |

causal balance
googles well, but don't know about the 'proper' bit...
Note from asker:
Hi Jonathan, 'Sactly! But all the hits seems to correspond to German companies and/or their websites, which makes me suspect that something ain't quite right. |
