German term

Anstückung

German to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
The context is the description of a painting (work of art):

"259 cm x 170,5 cm, Anstückungen oben links und rechts: 52 cm x 29 cm"

Discussion

Jumplanguage Feb 5, 2010:
Larger than the canvas? It sounds to me as if the application (seems not a bad idea) is also an application over the canvas.

agree philgoddard : Yes, it's extra bits added round the edges.

neutral William Murphy : 'extra bits added' sounds a lot like a rewording of 'applied materials' doesn't it?

neutral philgoddard : Your reference is to Ansteckung, not Anstückung.

No, actually it was Anstückung. The link seems to have changed. Try putting Anstückung and application into Google and you'll see a result come up on that site which, then, will not be there. I don't understand it.
