Road-Rail Transport

There are basically two different types of combined railroad traffic:

Unaccompanied transports:

Just the load unit (swap bodies, containers, cranable trailers) with no driver present

Accompanied transports: The load unit with a tractor unit and driver. The driver spends the travel time in a separate passenger railcar


The following special wagons are used for combined transport:

Pocket wagons for cranable semi-trailers
Lower bed or depressed centre flat cars for complete trucks (accompanied transports)
