The burn-through range is the range at which a radar can detect targets through external interference (usually jamming).

An electronic defeat, targets the host radar to lose the lock on its target and therefore is unable to pass the required information to the missile. This can be achieved in multiple ways. The easiest way is to have a powerful electronic attack (EA) capability. A jammer pod would be a good option for that, at least to a point outside the burn-through range of the targeting radar. Dubina prodora predstavlja granicu na kojoj su korisni signal i signal ometanja jednaki. To je praktično kosa daljina do cilja (ili ometača ako je u pitanju samozaštitno ometanje) na kojoj radar može da otkrije i prati cilj uprkos prisutnom ometanju.
