the term “babylonia” has two meanings:
“Babylonia
hist. Babylonien {n}
hist. babylonisches Reich {n}”
The first is, according to Babylon (!!! nice wordplay, though) (see www.germanit.co.il/targum/Babylonien) :
"Babylonien (assyrisch Karduniaš) bezeichnet eine Landschaft am Unterlauf der Flüsse Euphrat und Tigris, zwischen der heutigen irakischen Stadt Bagdad und ... "
In other words, it is a region - not an empire – as indeed explained in the Wikipedia link cited by the asker.
The second translates into “Babylonian Empire”
As already noted, it all depends on the context, which, according to the link cited by the asker, involves the region rather than the empire: (“Babylonia was an ancient cultural region in central-southern Mesopotamia “)
The question is what are the equivalent terms in Hebrew
ממלכת בבל, האימפריה הבבלית, ארץ בבל
or simply
בבל
which, by the way, is used in Hebrew to denote the city, the cultural region and the empire, and which may thus be the best solution, with an explanatory note in parenthesis.
</br>In Hebrew, this "country" is referred to as ממלכת בבל.
</br>There isn't a place called Babylonia in Hebrew.
