Term search If you had done a term search, you should have readily found 'rack mount' and variants thereof.

Standard 19" racks use a module height expressed in 'U' (= units), which is never translated, and corresponds to a dimension of 1.75" or approx. 44.45 mm.

So this is telling you that this particular piece of equipment is designed for rack-mounting, and will take up 1U of height in your rack.

Il suffit de taper montage en rack 1U dans Google pour voir que cette traduction est évidente....

disagree Tony M : This rather makes it sound as if if fits into a 1U rack, which isn't exactly the case. / Definitely not! The unit itself has a SIZE of 1U, but fits into any height of rack; it simply takes up 1U of modular height.

This is the standard way of saying that this module can be mounted into a 19" rack (of unspecified height) and will occupy 1U of height in said rack.

It would clearly be techncial nonsense to suggest that this unit could be fitted into a rack that was only 1U high; even though such a thing could exist, it would be nonsensical here, where what is important is to know the size of this module in order to fit it into any desired rack.

Merci, FX ! I was an electronics engineer for over 20 years, I know this stuff inside out, from practical, hands-on experience; and I see it often enough in FR to know when it's right or not. Sadly, there are very many poorly-translated EN sites out there
