compound time signatures

Standard western time signatures include mainly 2/4, 4/4, 3/4, 6/8. In the traditional music of the Balkans, additional time signatures include for example: 5/8 (in groups of 2+3 beats to a bar - "Pajduska"); 7/8 (in groups of 3+4 (in Macedonian music) or 4+3 beats to a bar "Rachenitza"); 9/8 (usually grouped as 2+2+2+3 beats to a bar e.d. "Daichovo horo"); 11/8 (usually 4+3+4 "Kopanitza"). These are called compound time signatures and can include even 13/16 (as in Krivo Sadovsko horo" and 15/16 "Buchimish"
