Czech term
"pod clonou"
Czech to English
Medical
Medical (general)
surgery, immunology
výkon (operace) "pod clonou" ATB, or faktoru 8
It is quite clear that the antibiotics, or the coagulation factor8 (that in case of a hemophilia patient) are employed to prevent trouble during the surgery, "pod clonou" being a convenient brief term to for it.
So - is there, or else,
what would you suggest as a good English equivalent for this Czech / Slovak medical idiom?

"coverage" is commonly used in association with ATBs -- e.g. "covered by antibiotic prophylaxis" or "under antibiotic coverage".
I'd stick to Martin's suggestion for Factor VIII.
I'd stick to Martin's suggestion for Factor VIII.
Example sentence:
... high-risk patients account for a very small proportion of those previously covered by antibiotic prophylaxis, thereby reducing the number exposed to any possible harmful adverse effects.
The tissue should be opened widely and debrided free of all necrotic tissue under antibiotic coverage.

Comment: "Thank you all. Martin's suggestion was best for the most important part. The particular paper was overly fond of the "clona" expressions, and in the end I had to ignore the exact translation make the meaning of the source more idiomatic in context. "

under/with prophylactic antibiotic (pre)treatment
ale osobně bych to celé vypustil - v angličtině krátký slangový výraz zřejmě není, takže je ten dovětek zcela zbytečný.
