English term

old turkeys and young turk

English to Portuguese Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
Context:
"XXX used to refer to two groups involved in the transition from one generation toe the next. There were the old turkeys and the young Turks. I recognized that I am no longer a young Turk and have passed through the stage we jokingly referred to as middle-aged buzzard, but am not prepared to call myself an old turkey just yet"

Any suggestions?
Thanks!
