السنا نبتة صحراوية ذات اوراق صغيرة تزهر عادة بعد هطول المطر على الصحراء القاحلة فبتدو كانها مشرقة. استعملت قديما كعلاج الامرض واوجاع البطن و لازلت تستخدم حاليا لنفس الغرض في الطب الشعبي او التقليدي. منها انواع كثيرة لكن اشهرها السنامكي الذي ينبت في مكة المكرمة وتعرف في مصر باسم الخرنوب ولها عدة اسماء علمية منها
