Malynes also notes the important role played by the “Sunne and Moone, and the other Planets and Starres in the generation of all things. . . ”. Included in this category of organic or “vegitable things” were the metalls,
“which have their beginning from Sulphur and mercury, Tanquam ex patre & matre; which meeting and concurring together in the veines of the earth, doe ingender through the heat and qualitie of the Climate by an assiduall concoction, according to the nature of the earth wherein they meet, which produceth the diversitie of the mettalls of Gold, Silver, Copper, Tin, Lead, and Yron, in their severall natures: and hereupon they have assigned them under their distinct Planets”.
