Source text - German Die hohen Kosten der Herstellung von Diamant-Siliziumkarbid Verbundmaterialien durch Hochdruckverfahren machen diese Werkstoffe trotz ihres guten Verschleißverhaltens für viele Anwendungen nicht attraktiv. Ein alternatives Verfahren zur Herstellung dieser Verbundmaterialien ist die Infiltration von Diamantrohlingen mit flüssigem Silizium. Die Benetzung und die Reaktionskinetiken von Diamant mit Silizium wurden untersucht, um die beschränkenden Parameter bei der Herstellung von Verbundwerkstoffen durch Infiltration zu verstehen. Über dem Schmelzpunkt benetzt Silizium Diamant aufgrund der schnellen Bildung einer SiC Zwischenschicht. Diese Zwischenschicht weist eine ähnliche Dicke auf, wie die SiC Schicht, die bei der Wechselwirkung von Silizium mit glasförmigem Kohlenstoff entsteht. Ein Diamant-Siliziumkarbid Verbundwerkstoff wurde mittels reaktions-Infiltration aus Diamantkorn der Größe 22 und 8 μm hergestellt. Werkstoffe, die aus kleinerem Diamantkorn hergestellt worden sind, können aufgrund eines Schließens des Porenraumes durch die Reaktion von Diamant mit Silizium nicht vollständig infiltriert werden. Der hergestellte Werkstoff weist eine Härte von mehr als 35 GPa auf, was eine Anwendung als Schneidwerkzeug oder als Verschleißteil ermöglicht.
Translation - English The high costs of production of diamond-silicon-carbide composites using high-pressure process make these materials unattractive for many applications despite their good wear behavior. An alternative process to produce these composites is the infiltration of uncut diamond with liquid silicon. Wetting and reaction kinetics of diamond with silicon were researched in order to understand the limit parameters for the production of composites using infiltration. Silicon above its melting point wets diamond due to the quick formation of a SiC interlayer. This interlayer has a thickness similar to that of SiC layer that is formed during the interaction of silicon and gaseous carbon. A diamond-silicon-carbide composite was created from diamond particles of 22 and 8 μm using reaction-infiltration. Materials produced from smaller diamond particles cannot be fully infiltrated because of the closure of pore spaces via the diamond-silicon reaction. The hardness of the produced material is over 35 GPa that allows its application as cutting tool or wear part.
