I recently purchased SDL Trados Studio 2011 Freelance Plus + SDL Trados 2007 Suite Freelance and I am having difficulties working with it.

I am using Windows 7 and every time I want to translate a document, after I open it for translation it gives me the error in attachment. saying the following:

TM update failed. Object reference not set to an instance of an object


I am also not able to close the page and I have to restart the computer to be able t... See more

Same identical error and no way to fix it. Anybody had the same issue?

... try removing the usual suspects first.

So delete 3 XML files by going to the following path:

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\[10.0.0.0]

Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\[10.0.0.0]

and delete the following three XML files:

- BaseSettings.xml
- plugincache.xml
- UserSettings.xml

Deleting xml files! Oct 11, 2017

I had the same error message and deleting the three xml files worked for me. Thanks for your valuable help!
