As A Translator I Have Refused To Translate A Market Research Questionnaire About Peoples' Smoking Preferences. There Is A Particular Country With Which I Would Not Work In Any Capacity. Are you calling the OP on using caps in the title? Isn't that a common capitalization rule in English? It's one thing to use caps in a title and a completely different thing to use them all around the main text. Sorry to tell you this, but I think your post will be deleted. Or perhaps she should have skipped the capitalization of words such as "an", "that", etc. , was this your point? But now you have to edit your post with my line as well. All that aside, I know a woman who was an English teacher, then left the job at school and became an erotica writer, the money is much better (apparently). There is nothing wrong with that, it’s a sub-genre of romance novels. If I were offered to translate one, I’d turn it down. Not for ethical reasons, but because I don’t believe I’d be able to render it well as it’s a specific type of fiction.

Of course there is nothing wrong with it. It's not a question of right or wrong, or whether or not you can make money out of erotica. Here, here, right here, it's much simpler than that. In a public forum, if A tells B that C knows that D has a cousin who is married to E who is an erotica author or whatever, what right has A or B to tell everyone from F to Z about it? None. Do you want an example closer to home? You protect yourself under the moniker Lingua5B, but due to circumstanc... See more Of course there is nothing wrong with it. Absolutely right what you said, you got the point. Everything’s been deleted, so you may chill down now, OK? Btw, I don’t believe anyone on here has even the slightest interest in my name and it wouldn’t hurt me if you mentioned it.

My biggest job last year (~500k words) was a romance game/novel with several erotic sections, including quivering thighs. The erotic scenes were indeed quite difficult to translate, one of the reasons being that I had given the main character a bit off an edge in the (sheer endless) lead-up, which was hard to maintain in the vanilla nookie sections. | | | James Heppe-Smith Türkiye Local time: 12:21 German to English Moderator of this forum
