Before starting freelance translating 15 years ago, I had more than three decades experience in translating and editing (and writing) articles on the politics, economics, and industry, technology and security issues of Latin America and Spain, as part of a full-time job with an English-language weekly magazine.

As a freelancer, my translation experience rapidly expanded, as I love the challenge of developing translating skills in new areas. My first focus was on medical records and clinical laboratory reports of all sorts. Financial documents, legal and commercial contracts, and corporate reports from Spain and Latin America soon followed, along with a steady stream of birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates and school transcripts. Lately, psychological assessments by psychiatrists have been frequent. My most fun job yet was the translation of two volumes from Britannica's Spanish-language illustrated encyclopedia on nature, although a series of recent translations of pharmaceutical plant inspection reports submitted to the FDA have been a close runner-up!

As a result of decades of experience as a researcher and writer, I produce final copy that actually reads like English, on time. One satisfied Project Manager at a major publishing company recently wrote: “It is a pleasure to receive such high quality translations such as the ones you always provide us. I just wanted to let you know that, of all the freelance translations we received, yours was the easiest to edit."

I am a native English-speaker, who has lived in Mexico, Peru and Colombia, and traveled widely in other Latin American countries.
